Investing time in prayer for our children is one of the greatest legacies we can leave as parents. An investment in prayer demonstrates obedience to God and it also brings great blessings and protection. James 5:16 says “the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective”. Ephesians 6:18 says “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints”. Jesus prayed for himself and for those he loved. We follow His example to pray without ceasing.
Every Friday morning of the school year, at 8:30 am, a small (but growing!) group of parents meet to pray in the church nursery. Our group is Parents in Prayer and we have been praying for over six years. During that time we have had many different parents and grandparents praying. Our children range in age from 4 to 24. We pray for our school, its mission, students, faculty and staff. Ezekiel 22:30 says, "I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found none”. Parents in Prayer is “standing in the gap” on behalf of Red Lion Christian Academy. As the elementary and EEC children are worshiping during chapel in the sanctuary, we are praying for them and RLCA.
