Our desire is for Red Lion to be a school that reflects quality, honor and integrity and shows solid academic performance in everything we do. We want our parents and students to be proud to be part of this school and consider it a privilege for the children to attend RLCA. One part of achieving that desire is the dress code. It has been proven that student dress codes affect academic performance. As we have said in the past, the 2012/13 school year will be a transitional year as it pertains to the dress code. We realize that many of you have multiple GCA and RLCA shirts and we don't want those to go to waste. Current GCA and RLCA polo shirts will be allowed on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The new polo will be required on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Flynn and O'Hara pants in khaki color, OR jumpers/skirts for the girls, are required on all days. The additional strongly
recommended uniform pieces are allowed every day of the week.
1. Sweatshirts and Hoodies are no longer allowed so you will need to purchase the new long- sleeved polo option or the sweater option for cold months. We are allowing the "old" polo shirts of any color, from both schools, to be worn on Tuesdays and Thursdays. However, the new navy polo will need to be worn on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
2. All students must purchase the uniform pants from Flynn and O'Hara. These pants are very reasonably priced and are made for durability. Elementary boys are required to purchase Flynn and O'Hara shorts if they chose to wear them in the 1st and 4th quarters. It is worth noting that all future uniform pieces must be purchased from Flynn and O'Hara.
3. We are "recommending" the more advanced uniform pieces, but not "requiring" them for this coming school year. Elementary girls have the option of jumpers and upper school girls have the option of skirts. The navy polo matches both the jumper and the skirt. The jumpers and skirts have blended the colors from both schools into one uniform and represent unity. Please note that all elementary girls should wear some type of shorts under their jumpers so that they can freely play on the playground or in the gym. Though they are not required this year, we would love to see them all decked out so beautifully. Girls are not allowed to wear shorts, only the elementary jumper or the upper school skirt option.
